Data Center Continued Fight

On July 13, 2026 Archbald citizens continued their fight against Data Centers. This came in the form of a public council meeting. The citizens spoke on their concerns ranging from environmental impacts as well as property issues when it came to hole values.

One concern that was raised was potential buyers opting out of looking for homes outside the area. Danielle Angeloni is a licensed Real Estate agent and has seen a drop in interest from people buying houses in the region. This has been seen from her clients and potential buyers within her company, ERA Real Estate.

Additional claims from the residents was that the Data Centers do not hire nearly as many people as the developers have stated. The only jobs that seem to be created are Blue Collar jobs which only last during the construction of the centers. The permanent jobs after construction are limited due to the nature of the facility.

Another resident mentioned , The PA Constitution Article 1 section 27 which reads;

§ 27. Natural resources and the public estate.

The people have a right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment. Pennsylvania's public natural resources are the common property of all the people, including generations yet to come. As trustee of these resources, the Commonwealth shall conserve and maintain them for the benefit of all the people.

PA has an environmental protection written into the Constitution making it one of the only states to have environmental protections, the boro has a responsibility of upholding that. The resident also mentions that the Centers will, in fact, violate state constitution dispute prior claims.

The Acoustic Sound professional testified on behalf of the borough and was able to rebuttal a lot of the claims the sound expert made. This seemed to help the residents with the fight but also brought more questions. The lawyer for the developers mentioned that they would be interested in exploring the potential of buying out properties if sound would be an issue.

There are a lot of glaring issues during all of these hearings. The biggest issue seems to be the exceptions that were made in favor of the data centers.
